A Note from the Workshop Directors

Dear Montana Dance Enthusiasts,

We are thrilled to host the MDAA Spring Workshop and Scholarship Audition April 12-13 in Helena! There is a fantastic line-up of guest instructors ready to energize, inspire, and fuel our dance spirits. We encourage everyone to expand their dance repertoire by attending the extra classes: Musical Theater, Afro-Brazilian, Improvisation, Latin/Fusion, Storytelling through Movement, and Belly Dance.

Also, don’t miss the Collaborative Choreography class led by New York City based guest instructor lisa nevada. This informative class is for student choreographers interested in presenting choreography at the Donna Jewell Choreography Adjudication in the fall.  lisa trained with Donna Jewell at The University of New Mexico so this is a special opportunity to really get to the essence of what Donna intended when she created the Choreography Adjudication for MDAA.

Teachers, check out the Teacher Training, Studio and Programming Accessibility, discussion led by Mackenzie Jones, Program Manager for the MT Disability and Health Program.  Mackenzie will share ideas of how to make your programs, website, communications, etc., more accessible for students, parents, grandparents and audience members and especially for those with hearing, visual, or physical impairments or other limitations. As a dance instructor herself, she has a unique perspective and understanding to share.

We are excited to introduce the Double Tree by Hilton Helena Downtown as our Gold Community Sponsor. We appreciate their support of the arts in Montana and are honored to partner with them and many other local businesses to bring such a wonderful dance experience to Montana students and teachers.

The MDAA Professional Membership Meeting is Saturday, April 12 at Creative Arts Center starting at 12:00pm. All instructors are invited and encouraged to attend. We hope to see you there!

We look forward to seeing you in Helena for an exciting weekend of dance!

Sincerely,
Tanya Call and Sarah Dassinger
