MDAA SPRING WORKSHOP

Save the Date!
April 1-2, 2023
Butte, MT

Last season’s 2022 Spring Workshop Guest Faculty

Collaborative Composition with Nicole Wolcott

This new MDAA class is designed for students who may have future interest in participating in the Donna Jewell Choreography Prize. It requires curiosity and a sense of humor in a playful, but rigorous investigation of improvised composition, so that learning may happen quickly through action and observation.  Participants will learn how to use analysis and imagination in tandem with the physical body to generate new movement ideas and work fluidly with in-the-moment composition choices. Participants will practice these skills in scored improvisations highlighting variations of craft and individual movement invention. Those people interested will have the opportunity to practice choice making as directors/choreographers. These practices give insight into what is required to be a valuable collaborative artist in a professional company. Students should register either as a CHOREOGRAPHER or as a DANCER. Enrollment is limited. Participants must purchase a MDAA Spring Workshop 2-Day Pass.
