Specialty Class Descriptions
Other than the most common genres of dance offered at MDAA workshops, like ballet, jazz, modern, hip hop, and tap, every workshop has unique class offerings from the guest faculty at that specific workshop. These types of classes are very special since they are harder to come by, and we encourage all students to try them!
In the Spring of 2024, you can enhance your dance training by attending the extra specialty classes: Musical Theater, Pilates, Brazilian Dance, Old Hollywood Choreography, and Improvisation. You might not know what these are:
Old Hollywood Choreography - Guest faculty Ryan Maw is looking forward to sharing Old Hollywood Choreography directly from Gene Kelly and Fred Astaire. The concept of filming the class for educational comparison aligns perfectly with our vision of offering a comprehensive learning experience, blending history with practice.
New Visions - an integrated community dance class: Learn about New Visions Dance, a program in Missoula, Montana that celebrates inclusive dance education. In this session, we will practice strategies for working with, and leading dance experiences for individuals who have any variety of physical, cognitive, and developmental abilities. New Visions merges University of Montana students with community members to inspire the pure joy of dance. Class Level: all levels and open to all workshop participants.
